An outside view of a 'Jubilee' lookout post on Rottnest Island, used during World War II for the defence of Fremantle Port in Western Australia.

Interestingly the building is heritage listed, being repaired from recent vandalism (all the glass is new and certain girders have "2012" written on them) and completely open to the public (though it was a bit of a hike to get there).

Inside, the lookout offers expansive views over most of the island and much of the waters to the East, South and South-West of Rottnest, ready to coordinate the 9.2 inch guns at Oliver Hill (as well as two 6 inch guns at Bickley Point).

I chucked the photo under 'Urban Exploring' because I guess it sort of looks like that, even though it is on a desert island...
